You may wonder what a VAR is, I have only experienced the term VAR used in my early trade of computers sales and servicing, basically it means “value added reseller” the principle is you take a product work with it and sell it for more than you purchased it for, with computers you could buy a computer and sell it on for more with an addition to increase its perceived value, that can be an extended warranty, some bespoke software installed or anything that makes it more valuable to the end user.
You obviously cant add a warranty on Runescape but you can work with items to increase the value, to find a suitable item takes a bit of detective work, there are obvious things like pots, and herbs but if you look carefully there are others.
You need to work out if by adding the service that will increase the value that you can actually make a profit, some things you can clearly make a profit others are not so straight forward, you also need to bare in mind many of these services increase the value because they offer little or no xp but are required by players wishing to save time training skills, you are effectively being paid for your time.
Example time
Buy pots (3) and combine them to pots (4), combining pots into 4 takes time, on Runescape time is money, the time spent combining pots could be spent killing the Bandos boss at god wars, the Kalphite Queen or mith dragons, I will happily pay a premium to not have to combine pots before a trip, the sell price is generally quite a bit more than the 3 dose pot but you need to check at the GE for current prices also make 1 to see if they sell at max medium or bottom price.
Herbs, clean herbs sell for more than grimy, you can buy grimy herbs clean them and sell as clean or you can add them to a vile of water and make even more cash selling as unfinished potions, hight level players (myself included) buy unfinished pots to speed up herblore training, the problem is you need to have the appropriate herblore level to do this but you can get assist from some high level players while you do it.
Crafting, buy dragon hides get them tanned and sell as tanned hides, buy sand and soda ash and sell as molten glass another way of making some good cash.
Buy olive oil and combine to 4 and sell or make into sacred oil and sell, all adds value for each step, you need to check out current prices using the GE to see if the profit is worth your time.
This is donkey work because you are labouring for the higher players but if you need or want money it is a way that is well worth considering, some things you can do in the comfort of the Grand Exchange so you don’t need to keep running to the bank.
There are many things have fun finding them I hope I help you make some good cash.
